What makes this journey
The Mara River is where the Migration reaches its most dramatic point. Wildebeest enter the water in their thousands, driven by instinct across a river full of crocodiles. The noise, the dust, and the raw force of it are impossible to prepare for.
The Maasai Mara holds the highest density of big cats in Kenya alongside the migrating herds. Inside a private conservancy, the grasslands are yours. Lion prides move through them at dawn, cheetah families hunt through the afternoon, and the horizon belongs entirely to the wild.
North Serengeti, Tanzania is where the herds gather before and after the Kenya crossing. The Serengeti side of the Mara River is often less crowded and more raw. Your camp is positioned in the heart of the movement, with game drives morning and afternoon.
The Mara at dawn from a hot air balloon reveals the scale of the ecosystem in a way no game drive can. Wildebeest herds stretch to the horizon. The rivers cut silver lines through the grassland. A champagne breakfast follows the landing.
Day by day
Your Anvir Host meets you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfers you privately to your hotel. The rest of this evening is yours. A welcome dinner at the hotel, and an early night before your epic safari begins tomorrow.
Morning flight into the Maasai Mara, where your Migration specialist guide meets you at the airstrip. The Mara is vast and the herds move constantly: your guide spends the afternoon orienting you across the ecosystem, reading the landscape and tracking which areas are holding the most activity. The river crossings are the Migration's most dramatic moments, and good positioning is everything. We are always tracking, always moving to where conditions are best.
Full day tracking the herds across the Mara. Your guide is in constant contact with a network of spotters, reading animal behaviour and repositioning as the morning unfolds. The river crossings happen on the wildebeest's terms, not ours, but when they do, they are unlike anything else in nature: thousands entering the water at once, crocodiles surging from the shallows, the noise and the dust and the raw instinct of survival playing out in front of you.
The Mara holds one of the highest densities of big cats in East Africa. A morning in pursuit of the resident lion prides and cheetah families who hunt across these grasslands year-round. Afternoon at leisure back at camp, watching the light change across the plains. This evening, sundowners as the sun sets over the Mara.
Fly south across the border into Tanzania's North Serengeti, where the herds move between July and October. The Serengeti corridor north of the Mara River holds some of the Migration's most dramatic moments. Your camp is positioned in the perfect spot for sweeping views of the plains and the best animal activity.
A full day in the North Serengeti. Morning and afternoon drives following the herds. The Grumeti and Mara Rivers are the two great crossing points on the Tanzania side. On the Serengeti side, the crossings tend to draw fewer vehicles, allowing for a more immersive and unhurried experience in the midst of the action.
Your final full day in the Serengeti. A dawn drive as the light comes up over the plains, then morning game drives following the herds. Afternoon at leisure in camp, watching the landscape shift through the afternoon light. A sundowner drive at last light across one of the greatest wildlife landscapes on earth.
Morning flight back to Nairobi for your international connection. Depending on your flight schedule, a day room at the Crowne Plaza close to the airport will be provided for your convenience, giving you the space to rest and freshen up before your onward journey. You leave with images, stories, and a permanent sense of what extraordinary looks like.
