Kibale National Park, often referred to as the “Primate Capital of the World,” is one of Uganda’s most enchanting and biodiverse destinations. Covering 795 square kilometres, it is home to lush tropical rainforests, swamps, and grasslands. The park boasts the highest density and variety of primates in Africa — including over 1,500 chimpanzees — making it the best place for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda. How to Get There
By Road: Approximately 5–6 hours’ drive from Kampala, passing through Fort Portal.
By Air: Charter and scheduled flights are available from Entebbe or Kampala to Kasese or Fort Portal airstrips, followed by a short drive to the park.
Location
Kibale is located in western Uganda, near the town of Fort Portal, and borders Queen Elizabeth National Park to the south — forming a wildlife corridor that connects to the Rwenzori Mountains and Semuliki National Park.
