This 8-day Rwanda Adventure Safari offers an unforgettable journey through Rwanda’s most spectacular destinations. The trip combines wildlife encounters, cultural experiences, scenic landscapes, and unique adventures within a short yet rewarding itinerary.

Your journey begins in Kigali, widely regarded as one of the cleanest and most organized cities in Africa. From here you will travel to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas, where you will experience the life-changing adventure of gorilla trekking and the exciting golden monkey trek.

The safari continues to the beautiful shores of Lake Kivu before heading to Nyungwe National Park, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. Here you will explore lush forests, enjoy a thrilling canopy walk, and track chimpanzees in their natural habitat. The journey concludes with cultural visits and scenic landscapes before returning to Kigali.

This safari combines Rwanda’s most iconic wildlife experiences with breathtaking scenery and authentic cultural encounters.

Itinerary

    01

    Arrival in Kigali

    Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our company representative for a safari briefing and introduction to your professional driver guide. You will then be transferred to your selected hotel in Kigali for check-in.

    Spend the evening relaxing after your journey while preparing for the exciting adventure ahead.

    02

    Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

    After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and begin your Kigali city tour. The tour includes a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre where you will learn about Rwanda’s history and the events of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

    After lunch, depart Kigali and drive north towards Volcanoes National Park, enjoying scenic views of Rwanda’s famous rolling hills along the way. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and spend the afternoon relaxing in preparation for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

    03

    Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Experience

    After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers about the rules and guidelines for gorilla trekking.

    You will then enter the forest in search of a gorilla family. The trek can take between two to six hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and the pace of the group. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat.

    After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and later enjoy a cultural visit to experience traditional Rwandan culture, music, and dance.

    04

    Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Lake Kivu

    After breakfast, transfer to Volcanoes National Park for the exciting golden monkey trekking experience. These playful primates are known for their energetic behavior and colorful appearance.

    Following the trek, return to the lodge for lunch before driving to Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the evening relaxing by the lakeside.

    05

    Coffee Experience and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

    After breakfast, depart for a coffee plantation experience in Kimbiri where you will learn about Rwanda’s famous coffee production process, from harvesting to roasting and tasting.

    After the coffee experience, continue to Nyungwe National Park. Upon arrival, proceed for the famous Nyungwe Canopy Walk which offers breathtaking views over the rainforest from a suspended bridge.

    Later transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

    06

    Chimpanzee Trekking and Tea Plantation Visit

    After an early breakfast, head to Nyungwe National Park headquarters for a briefing before beginning your chimpanzee trekking adventure.

    Nyungwe Forest is home to over 13 primate species and offers one of the best chimpanzee trekking experiences in East Africa. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend one hour observing them.

    After lunch, visit a nearby tea plantation where you will learn about tea production and enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes.

    07

    Waterfall Hike, King’s Palace Museum and Return to Kigali

    After breakfast, enjoy a scenic waterfall hike within Nyungwe National Park. The hike takes approximately two to three hours and offers the chance to spot birds and primates along the trail.

    After the hike, depart for Kigali with lunch en route. On the way, visit the King’s Palace Museum to learn about Rwanda’s traditional monarchy and cultural heritage.

    Arrive in Kigali in the afternoon and check in to your hotel.

    08

    Departure

    After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy a short visit to the Nyamirambo Women’s Centre for a guided walk through one of Kigali’s vibrant neighborhoods.

    Later you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
